Another Employer 'reinterpretation' issue. Rereading contract language, the Employer breaks from practice and decides that all temporary employees are entitled to only 6 days of sick time in their entire period of employment, meaning that those few temporary employees that the GVRD strings along three months at a time could find themselves off sick with no pay, once they have used a total of six days since hired. We felt the fund should replenish itself one day per month of employment to a maximum of six days, until used again.
We were able to come to an agreement before arbitrator John Thorne, who issued this consent order outlining the agreement.
